Join us to explore the book, Rethinking Disability and Mathematics, by Rachel Lambert. Let’s make the math classroom a place where students with disabilities and neurodiversity uncover their strengths and find meaningful and joyful learning in math.
Day 1
'Day 1' is designed for teachers who have just started reading the book, and want to learn more about Rachel Lambert’s research. Discussions will be based around the need for shifting our misconceptions around math, disability, and instructional practice, as well as how to implement using Universal Design for Learning for Math (UDL Math) to support all students.
Day 2
'Day 2' is designed for teachers who HAVE read the book and want to learn more about implementation strategies in the classroom. Discussions will be focused around real life classroom stories and best practices for math instruction to support all students.
OBJECTIVES
Day 1

Explore key ideas and research from the book Rethinking Disability and Mathematics, by Rachel Lambert to learn how to ensure that all students, regardless of ability, have the opportunity to engage with math in meaningful ways.

Be introduced to Universal Design for Learning for Math (UDL Math), a framework that empowers disabled and neurodiverse students by providing multiple pathways to mathematical understanding.
Day 2

Explore core ideas, fact fluencies, designing an inclusive classroom, and rethinking assessments and IEP goals.

Learn to create inclusive math classrooms that celebrate students' strengths and foster a sense of identity as math learners.

Get practical strategies for applying UDL Math in K-8 classrooms and hear real-life examples of how teachers redesigned their classrooms and increased access for all students.

CESA 6 Payment Policy for Event Registrations
CESA 6 accepts credit card payments for all event registrations. If you are unable to complete your registration using a credit card, please contact events@cesa6.org for assistance with alternative arrangements.
Please note if an alternative payment is needed, a purchase order must be received before your registration can be confirmed. All registrations must be finalized before the event date.
Alternative payment methods may be approved under the following circumstances:
- Registration fees exceed $1,000
- A specific funding source is being used (e.g., Title funds)
- Your school district requires use of an internal payment process
Cancellations for Events
Participant Cancellations: Cancellations must be submitted in writing by emailing events@cesa6.org. Registrants who cancel at least 14 calendar days prior to the event start date are eligible for a full refund, minus any non-refundable service or material fees. Cancellations received 7 to 13 calendar days before the event will be eligible for a 50% refund. No refunds will be provided for cancellations made within 7 calendar days of the event. Participants who do not attend without prior notice ("no call, no show") will be charged the full event fee.
Event Changes or Cancellations by CESA 6: CESA 6 reserves the right to change or cancel an event due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to low enrollment, presenter availability, or other factors beyond our control. Participants will be notified promptly via email and offered either a full refund or a credit toward a future event.
Registration Transfers: Registrations may be transferred to another individual from the same organization at no additional cost. Please contact us at least 48 hours before the event start date to request a transfer.
